Nis (Serbia). May 23. INTERFAX-A batch of T-72MS tanks and BRDM-2MS armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicles delivered to the Armed Forces of Serbia as part of military-technical assistance can strengthen the combat potential of the republic's army, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said on Sunday during the ceremony of handing over the vehicles.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Defense of Serbia Nebojsa Stefanovic, State Secretary-Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov, the High military command of the Serbian Army. The ceremony took place in the city of Nis on the territory of the 3rd Mechanized Brigade of the Serbian Land Forces.
"Upgraded T-72MS tanks and Russian-made BRDM-2M armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicles have joined the combat staff of the Serbian armed forces. The delivered equipment, which meets all modern standards and requirements, will strengthen the combat potential of the Serbian army, will contribute to the implementation of tasks to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country," Fomin said.
The Deputy Minister assured that the Russian military department will continue to develop and strengthen bilateral relations, provide all possible assistance to the modernization of the Armed Forces of Serbia.
After the end of the dynamic display of armored vehicles, Fomin presented the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Moisilovich, with a symbolic tower key for the T-72MS tank.
