United Engine Corporation will begin bench testing of the VK-1600V demonstrator engine in the second half of the year
MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. The United Engine Corporation (UEC) of Rostec will present the VK-1600V demonstrator engine for the Ka-62 helicopter in July at the MAKS-2021 International Aerospace Salon. This was announced by TASS on Thursday at the HeliRussia 2021 exhibition by the general designer of UEC-Klimov (part of UEC) Vsevolod Eliseev.
According to him, leading enterprises within the UEC circuit are involved in the production of the first engine (demonstrator engine) in broad cooperation. "This will allow us to start assembling the first VK-1600V engine at the production facilities of UEC-Klimov JSC as soon as possible. Already in July, it is planned to present the demonstrator engine at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021, " the general designer said.
He noted that after that, the engine will be rebuilt at UEC-Klimov JSC and the engine will be ready for the first tests by the end of the third quarter of 2021.
Bench tests
UEC will begin bench testing of the VK-1600V demonstrator engine for the Ka-62 helicopter in the second half of this year.
"The first installation of the demonstrator engine on the test stand of UEC-Klimov JSC is planned for the third quarter of 2021," Yeliseyev said.
Yeliseyev explained that the test bench was modified specifically for this type of engine and will be put into trial operation together with the tests of the demonstrator engine. "At the same time, another new test bench for the VK-1600V engine is being built, the completion of which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021, which will allow us to start certification bench tests of prototypes in early 2022," he said.
The VK-1600V engine was developed by UEC and is being created for the promising Ka-62 multi-purpose helicopter. To date, there are no domestic engines of this dimension in the country.
