Russia plans to launch an upgraded version of the Ka-52M Alligator reconnaissance and attack helicopter on the international market.
"We and our foreign partners expect an upgraded version of the Ka-52 helicopter, which is being developed by Russian Helicopters, to enter the foreign market in the near future," Alexander Mikheev, head of Rosoboronexport, told Sputnik radio on the eve of the HeliRussia exhibition.
Military expert Dmitry Litovkin is sure that this proposal will arouse interest abroad, since the Ka-52 is one of the most modern Russian helicopters, capable of operating in any weather and time of day. The phased array radar allows you to detect targets on the ground and in the air, hitting them with guided missiles and fire from a 30-mm automatic cannon.
The Ka-52 is an armored helicopter with unique characteristics. The coaxial design of the propellers allows it to perform maneuvers that are not available to other machines. The experience gained during the operation formed the basis for the modernization of the Ka-52. The main innovation will be anti-tank missiles of increased range, acting on the principle of "shot-forget", weapons will be unified with the equipment of the Mil family. Other characteristics of the helicopter will also improve.
Now the only foreign operator of "Alligator" is Egypt.
