MOSCOW, May 19 — RIA Novosti. A Russian Su-27 fighter jet took to the air to escort a US Air Force B-52N strategic bomber over the Baltic Sea.
"On May 19, 2021, Russian air space control systems over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea detected an air target approaching the State Border of Russia," the press service of the Western Military District reported.
After the turn of the foreign plane, the Russian fighter returned to the airfield. There was no violation of the Russian border, the flight of the Su-27 was carried out in strict accordance with international rules.
In recent years, Russia has repeatedly stated about the unprecedented activity of NATO at its borders. The Alliance is expanding such initiatives and calls it " deterring Russian aggression."
The Foreign Ministry noted that Moscow will take into account the mood of NATO in foreign policy and military planning. As the Kremlin stressed, Russia does not threaten anyone, but it will not ignore actions that are potentially dangerous for its interests.
