The scale of Russian military activity in the Voronezh and Belgorod regions will be checked by inspectors from Switzerland in the period from 19 to 21 May this year, said the head of the National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction Sergey Ryzhkov.
"The Russian Federation has agreed to this inspection. The specified area defined by Switzerland is located in the Voronezh and Belgorod regions and covers an area of about 15,000 square kilometers, " Ryzhkov said.
According to him, "Switzerland will conduct an inspection of the specified area on the territory of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Vienna Document of 2011 on confidence-and security-building measures."
"Such inspections are carried out in order to determine the extent of military activities carried out within the specified area and subject to prior notification, or to confirm the absence of such notified military activities," Ryzhkov said.
In the course of the work, the inspectors " will receive briefings from the command of military formations and units located within the specified area, containing information about their structure, tasks and military activities."
