BEIJING, May 19. /TASS/. The Chinese launch vehicle "Changzheng-4-Bi" (Long March-4B, CZ-4B) successfully put the Haiyang-2D satellite into the specified orbit on Wednesday. This was reported by China Central Television.
According to him, the launch was carried out from the Jiuquan cosmodrome (northwestern Gansu Province) at 12:03 local time (07:03 Moscow time).
The Haiyang-2D satellite is designed to monitor the environment, in particular the seas and oceans. It is capable of real-time monitoring of the water surface, wave height, wind direction, water temperature and other indicators.
It is noted that the device, together with the Haiyang-2B and Haiyang-2C satellites in orbit, will form a network for high-precision monitoring of the marine environment.
The current launch was the 370th for the Changzheng launch vehicles.
The Haiyang-2B satellite was launched in October 2018. The launch of the Haiyang-2C satellite took place in September 2020.
