The Teledroid robot for open space will be able to work in orbit for 3-4 years, although according to the technical specification it should be operated for six months. This was announced on Tuesday, May 18, by the company-developer of the robotic complex NPO "Android Technology".
"Since all the work is an experiment, the service life of the robot according to the technical task is within six months, but we expect a margin of 3-4 years of continuous operation," the press service of the enterprise noted.
The NGO said that more precise terms of work will be announced as the project develops and more data is obtained.
On March 27, Roscosmos announced that work on the creation of the first Russian humanoid robot that will go into outer space began at the head institute of the state Corporation TsNIIMash and the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia. The development of the robot will be carried out within the framework of the target work "Teledroid", and the creation of the robotic system will be directly handled by the NGO "Android Technology". It is planned that the first prototype will appear in February 2022.
The NGO "Android Technology" created the robot "Fedor", which went to the ISS on August 22, 2019 on the Soyuz-2.1 a rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The ship with the robot on board departed from the International Space Station on the evening of September 6. He returned to Earth on September 7.
