MOSCOW, May 18 - RIA Novosti. Foreign customers are showing high interest in the export version of the new Russian Mi-28NM attack helicopter, said Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
As reported by a source of RIA Novosti, familiar with the progress of the contract for the "Night Hunters", the first two serial Mi-28NM were delivered to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation at the end of 2020. At the MAKS-2021 air show, which will be held on July 20-25 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, the serial Mi-28NM will be presented for the first time in the demonstration flight program.
The Mi-28NM is manufactured at the Rostvertol plant (part of Russian Helicopters). The most noticeable external difference between the Mi-28NM and its predecessor is the spherical radar fairing located immediately above the propeller. The latest helicopter is capable of performing a wide range of tasks - from reconnaissance and target designation, to the destruction of ground and air targets. The arsenal of the Mi-28NM includes a whole range of guided missiles, including the new helicopter cruise missiles "Product 305". The vehicle's armor is able to protect the crew from armor-piercing projectiles with a caliber of up to 20 millimeters.
The Mi-28NM also received upgraded engines and an auxiliary power plant, a new onboard radio-electronic equipment complex, and equipment for interfacing with unmanned aerial vehicles.
