BAKU, May 17. /TASS/. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have started command and staff exercises in Nakhichevan. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
"According to the combat training plan for the 2021 academic year, command and staff exercises involving formations and units of various types of troops have begun in the Nakhchivan garrison," the report says.
The units and personnel involved in the exercises were alerted, their movements were masked from the air defense systems of the imaginary enemy. "Special attention was paid to the creation of false positions and control points," the press service of the Ministry of Defense noted.
At the same time, on May 16, large-scale military exercises began in Azerbaijan, involving up to 15 thousand military personnel, up to 300 units of tanks and other armored vehicles, about 400 rocket and artillery installations of various calibers, multiple rocket launchers, mortars and anti-tank weapons, up to 50 units of military aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also reported that during the maneuvers, which will last until May 20, the troops will perform tasks to prevent provocations by illegal armed groups and conduct counter-operations to neutralize terrorists.
