Severomorsk. May 13. INTERFAX-The Russian Armed Forces have deployed a group of forces and means in the Arctic that reliably ensures the military security of the Russian Federation, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander of the Northern Fleet, said at a briefing on Thursday.
"Currently, a group of forces and troops is deployed in the Arctic, which is able to adequately respond to existing and predicted threats. The Northern Fleet is capable of protecting the national interests and military security of the Russian Federation in the Arctic region, " the military commander said.
According to him, the Northern Fleet effectively ensures the military and economic security of Russia not only in the Arctic region, but also in other areas of the World Ocean within the established boundaries of responsibility.
The Admiral also noted that along with maintaining high combat readiness, the personnel of the Northern Fleet regularly solves the tasks of providing assistance and rescue at sea, including on the Northern Sea Route, ensuring the safety of navigation and environmental safety in the Arctic.
