The Teledroid robot may be placed not on the ISS, but on a promising Russian orbital station
MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/. The first prototype of the scientific equipment of the robot project "Teledroid", designed to work in outer space, will appear in February 2022. This is stated in the message of the NGO "Android Technology", distributed on Tuesday.
As specified in the organization, at the end of March, a contract was signed with the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia for the creation of a new-generation robotic complex designed for spacewalking.
"The project is designed until 2025. The first stage will be completed at the end of February 2022, the result will be the production of a prototype product of scientific equipment for the first stage of testing, " the report says.
The NGO noted that the Teledroid robot being created for working in outer space can be placed not on the ISS, but on a promising Russian orbital station. "The robotic complex will be based on the ISS (or the prospective ROS) and will carry out work on the outer surface of the station," the report says.
Robot appearance
In turn, the executive director of the NGO Yevgeny Dudorov noted that the approval of the project was carried out for eight years. "The technical task was worked out especially carefully by the customer. The result should be very interesting, " said Dudorov.
Now we are working on the appearance of the robot-cosmonaut, its components, and protocols for docking with the ISS. "It is assumed that the Teledroid will be controlled not only from the ISS, but also from Earth, and the avatar suit will be improved taking into account the comments of the astronauts that were revealed in the work with the FEDOR robot, "the NGO"Android Technology" added.
At the end of January, the organization told TASS that the contract for the creation of the robot is in the final stage, while work on the creation started on December 1, 2020.
