Moscow. May 11. INTERFAX-The Scientific and Production association "Vavilov State Optical Institute" (NPO GOI) is developing the production of infrared optical glasses of a special composition, the press service of the Shvabe holding, which includes the enterprise, reports.
"The products are manufactured for the needs of the Russian industry, including those related to the creation of thermal imagers for medical and technical purposes, as well as biological and environmental monitoring systems," the report said on Tuesday.
The report cites the words of Konstantin Dukelsky, Director General of the NGO GOI, who noted that the demand for oxygen-free glass in Russia is growing. The country's annual demand for this material is estimated at about 100 kg, Dukelsky believes.
He says that manufacturers specializing in the production of thermal imaging equipment, previously mainly purchased foreign glass. Since 2019, the capacities are focused on fully covering the needs of the Russian market in oxygen-free glass and import substitution. Production volumes are steadily growing, the direction is developing. Until the end of 2021, we will implement a number of new deliveries, " Dukelsky said.
According to the press service, in comparison with oxide glass, oxygen - free glass is synthesized without oxygen access. This product is characterized by high transparency in the infrared region of the spectrum and is used in thermal imaging devices. Currently, the institute conducts laboratory production and production of three types of such glass, working in the ranges-0.7-9.0 microns, 1.5-17.0 microns,1, 0-15, 5 microns.
The report notes that oxygen-free glass produced by NPO GOI is distinguished by a large range of changes in optical properties, including the dispersion coefficient. "This is its main competitive advantage over the analogues of Belgian, German, American and other manufacturers," the press release says.
