The army of the Syrian Arab Republic announced on Wednesday, May 5, that the country's air defense systems shot down several Israeli missiles aimed at objects in the coastal zone of Latakia. This is reported by the SANA news agency.
According to the agency, at 02: 18 (the time coincides with Moscow. - Ed.) Israel carried out a rocket attack from the south-west of Latakia.
"Our air defenses shot down some of the missiles," the statement said.
Earlier, the agency reported that the Syrian air defense systems reflect a missile attack in the area of Latakia province and the city of Masyaf (Hama province). Explosions were also heard in the vicinity of Tartus. As a result of the attack on a warehouse of plastic products in Latakia, one civilian was killed and six others were injured, including a woman and a child.
