The functionality of the spacecraft was completely restored
MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. The Meteor-M hydrometeorological satellite No. 2 is again operating normally. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday in the press service of JSC "Corporation "VNIIEM".
"The Meteor-M spacecraft No. 2 (developed and manufactured by VNIIEM Corporation JSC), which was previously put on post-warranty inspection, is currently operating normally," the press service noted.
As specified in the corporation, the functionality of the spacecraft is fully restored.
Earlier, radio amateur Dmitry Pashkov said on his portal that the satellite's orientation system had failed. According to him, in the photo taken on April 29, "the edge of the Earth is visible, although the camera should look strictly down." As Pashkov explained, the satellite's orientation system failed for unknown reasons.
VNIIEM then told TASS that by the decision of the chief designer, the device was brought out for post-warranty inspection. The spacecraft is scheduled to return to normal operation on May 5. The press service stressed that the satellite is now functioning outside the warranty obligations (the warranty period of active existence expired in 2019).
The Meteor-M satellite No. 2 was developed and manufactured by VNIIEM. It was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in July 2014. At the beginning of February last year, the Meteor-M satellite number 2 failed, later Roscosmos reported that the orientation of the device was restored, it is operational.
