Moscow. May 2. INTERFAX-Tests of the protected special purpose vehicle "Typhoon-Airborne" will soon be completed, the Department of Information and Mass Communications (DIMK) of the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"In the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces), tests of a protected special-purpose vehicle, parachuted by the Typhoon-airborne parachute method, are being completed, which will ensure that the airborne assault units perform the entire range of tasks to be solved," the department said.
They noted that based on the results of the tests, a decision will be made on the supply of such vehicles to the Airborne Forces and their terms.
"The further development of the weapons system, military and special equipment of the Airborne Troops is aimed at ensuring a new high - quality condition of the troops, which will guarantee the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to them," the Russian Defense Ministry stressed.
In March, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the share of modern weapons in the Airborne Forces reached almost 72%.
Last year, the commander of the Airborne Forces, Andrey Serdyukov, said that the Typhoon-Airborne vehicles will begin to enter the troops in series in 2021. Previously, it was planned that the mass production of these machines will begin in 2019.
