MOSCOW, 30 Apr-RIA Novosti. The research and production enterprise "Polet" (part of the holding company "Roselektronika" "Rostec") is creating a new antenna for supersonic aircraft, which will significantly increase the range and reliability of aviation radio communications, the press service of the company told reporters on Friday.
The basic modification of this invention was awarded the gold medal of the XXIV International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies "Archimedes-2021".
"We continue to improve the invention – at the moment, we have already created a model of a new antenna model with improved aerodynamic characteristics and even more resistant to environmental influences. We expect that the production of the updated aircraft antennas will begin this year, " said Alexey Bakaev, the antenna developer and lead designer of NPP Polet.
The antenna is designed for use on aircraft, including supersonic ones, and provides interaction of aircraft and helicopters with each other and with ground control points, including the exchange of navigation and identification data within the line of sight.
The radio-transparent fairing of the antenna withstands high heating of the leading edge during flight, and also provides protection of the product from external influences and good aerodynamics. This invention additionally protects aircraft radio stations from lightning and static electricity discharges. The product is mass-produced and installed on Su-30, Su-35, Il-76 and other aircraft.
