Washington. April 29. INTERFAX-The United States has warned China that in order to protect American interests in the world, it will strengthen its military presence in the Indo-Pacific region, US President Joe Biden said.
"I told President Xi (Chinese President Xi Jinping-IF) that we will maintain a strong military presence in the Indo-Pacific region, as we do with NATO in Europe, but not to start a conflict, but to prevent a conflict," he said in his first address to the US Congress since taking office.
Biden noted that he also told Xi Jinping that "they welcome competition", but "made it absolutely clear that I will protect American interests on all fronts."
According to the president, "America will resist unfair trade practices that undermine the interests of American workers and industry, such as subsidies to state-owned enterprises and the theft of American technology and intellectual property."
