MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. The contract for the modernization of the Gagarin Launch at the Baikonur cosmodrome for the launch of Soyuz-2 launch vehicles will be designed for three years. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the Director General of the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure (CENKI) Ruslan Mukhamedzhanov.
According to him, the issue of modernization of the launch complex is being worked out by the state corporation "Roscosmos" with partners from Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates. The terms of implementation are spelled out in the draft trilateral intergovernmental agreement, which is approved by the federal executive authorities of the Russian Federation and is being approved by the state structures of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates. "Upon completion of the preparatory work and signing of the intergovernmental agreement, it is planned to conclude a contract with TsENKI JSC for the modernization of the launch complex for a period of three years," Mukhamedzhanov said, stressing that the exact dates of the project implementation have not yet been determined.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan reported that the total cost of upgrading the Gagarin Launch will be $87 million - $29 million from each side. Previously, the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle was launched from the launch pad, and after modernization, it is planned to launch the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle.
