Russian aircraft are carrying out intensive strikes on underground shelters and firing positions of the Daesh terrorist group (IS – banned in the Russian Federation) in the Syrian desert.
The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out more than 15 bombings on the Al-Bishri mountain range in the Deir ez-Zor province and the adjacent desert area in the Raqqa province. This is reported by the London-based non-governmental organization "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" (SOHR).
Citing local sources and social media monitoring, the London-based observer claims that the Islamists attacked the positions of the Syrian army and Iranian-backed militias in the Al-Tayarat district in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor. There were fierce clashes between the two sides. As a result, according to SOHR data, at least three government soldiers were killed and several others were injured.
The square where the clashes took place is very close to the Al-Mazar district, where Iranian-backed militias are stationed, the monitoring organization adds.
