MOSCOW, 27 Apr-RIA Novosti. The American Coast Guard patrol ship "Hamilton" entered the Black Sea.
The US Sixth Fleet said in a statement that this was done to support NATO allies and regional partners.
As told to journalists in the National Center for Defense Management (NDUO), the ship is being monitored by the forces of the Black Sea Fleet.
The ships of the NATO countries periodically ply in the Black Sea water area. So, in January, two American destroyers "Porter" and "Donald Cook" went there, the alliance explained this by "building up the military power" of Russia. In response, Moscow conducted exercises that included naval combat. In March, the American destroyer Thomas Hudner and the cruiser Monterey also entered these waters."
Russia has repeatedly stated that the presence of military personnel from other regions in the Black Sea does not contribute to stability.
The Montreux Convention, signed in 1936, limits the stay in the Black Sea of warships of non-Black Sea states for a period of three weeks. The document also provides that up to nine such ships with a total tonnage of no more than 30 thousand tons can be in the water area at the same time.
