Washington. April 26. INTERFAX-Washington believes that the absence of a nuclear agreement with Iran regulating development in this area would be beyond Russia's interests, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said at a briefing.
"Let Russia speak for itself, I will only add that a nuclear-armed Iran is not in Moscow's interests," he said, answering a question about Washington's confidence in Russia in its participation in negotiations aimed at returning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian atom.
The next face-to-face meeting of the joint commission on the Iranian nuclear program will be held in Vienna on Tuesday, the Iranian delegation has already arrived in the Austrian capital. Price noted that the United States will participate in the consultations in Vienna.
Before leaving for Vienna, Iran's chief negotiator, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, told lawmakers that two types of sanctions - sectoral and personal-were currently being discussed by the negotiators.
The sectoral sanctions, according to the diplomat, relate to oil, petrochemicals, aviation, shipbuilding, automotive, construction, maritime transportation, banking and insurance sectors.
The list of personal sanctions contains about 1.5 thousand individuals and legal entities.
Iran insists that both types of US sanctions should be lifted, Araghchi said.
Last week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that three steps should be taken to breathe life into the JCPOA.
"The first step towards the revival of the JCPOA is the lifting of sanctions by the United States. As a second step, we will check the lifting of sanctions. The third step will be our return to the full implementation of our nuclear obligations under the deal, " Rouhani said.
