Exoskeleton
Specialists of the Research Center at the state aerospace company China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp (CASIC) have developed an exoskeleton for firefighters involved in extinguishing forest fires.
According to the developers, the system will help firefighters to carry loads up to 50 kg and more freely move. The 5 kg exoskeleton helps firefighters to use energy more efficiently – saving efforts can reach 50 %. In order to put on the kit and take it off, it takes only one minute. In November 2020, CASIC has already presented another exoskeleton designed for use in high-altitude areas. It is expected to make it easier for those involved in patrolling and logistical support for fire brigades. Two more exoskeletons from CASIC were used by members of a special team that took part in the search for the return capsule of the Chinese lunar probe Chang'e-5, which delivered about 2 kg of lunar soil to Earth.
