Moscow. April 23. INTERFAX-AVN-Two long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 made a 10-hour flight over the Pacific Ocean, in some places they were accompanied by F-18 fighters of the US Navy, the press service of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) reported.
"On April 23, 2021, a pair of long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 of the Naval Aviation of the Pacific Fleet performed a planned 10-hour flight over the Pacific Ocean. (...) In some parts of the flight, the Russian planes were accompanied by F-18 carrier-based fighters of the US Navy, " the fleet headquarters said.
The Russian military stressed that the flight of the Tu-142 " was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace."
According to the TOPH, during the flight, the aircraft overcame about 8 thousand km.
"The pilots worked out the tasks of flying over undirected terrain, coordination of actions when piloting in the absence of radar control, as well as issues of flight training in the far sea zone," the press service said.
The Tu-142 (NATO codification-Bear-F) is a long-range anti-submarine defense aircraft, one of the largest in the world, designed to combat submarines. Practical flight range-12.5 thousand km, combat range-6.4 thousand km.
