According to military expert Yuri Lyamin, the Israeli air force this night tried once again to attack objects in the Damascus area.
Syrian air defense units opened fire on them. Long-range S-200 systems were also involved in repelling the raid. One of the missiles, without hitting the target, continued its flight, entering the airspace of a neighboring state.
At the same time, apparently, the missile defense means simply did not notice it, and it flew, according to various estimates, 250 - 300 kilometers, self-destructed. The wreckage fell on one of the settlements, after which an air alert was finally declared.
After that, the Air Force planes were again lifted into the sky, which, according to local media, had already fired at two anti-aircraft batteries of the SAR.
The SANA news agency, reporting on the attack, said that most of the missiles were shot down, while four Syrian soldiers were injured.
Incidents with the S-200 air defense system were recorded earlier. For example, in 2017, it became known about the fall of a rocket in Jordan, and in the summer of 2019, the rocket flew to Cyprus, crashing near the village of Tashkent, located on the Turkish part of the island.
