Vladimir Solovyov, Flight director of the Russian segment of the ISS, First Deputy General Designer for flight operation and testing of rocket and space complexes and systems of RSC Energia, noted that the discussion on the creation of the station has been going on for a long time
MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. The main tasks of the Russian space station will be observation and medical and physiological experiments. This was announced on Wednesday by the head of the flight of the Russian segment of the ISS, First Deputy General Designer for flight operation, testing of rocket and space complexes and systems of RSC Energia, Vladimir Solovyov.
"The first is to ensure maximum surveillance capabilities of the Russian Federation, including high-latitude areas," he said, speaking at a general meeting of RAS members. Another task, according to Solovyov, will be to conduct medical and physiological experiments in areas with the least protection from the aggressive space environment. He also noted that the discussion on the creation of the station has been going on for a long time.
Russia has conducted only 20% of the total number of scientific experiments performed on the International Space Station, Solovyov noted. "What is sad is that the mass of scientific equipment delivered to the ISS is 76 tons in total, and the Russian segment is only 6.5 tons. The conducted experiments are more than two thousand, of which only 400 are Russian. These are the results of the underfunding of our scientific programs at the station, " he said.
Solovyov also noted that the creation of the ISS at one time saved manned cosmonautics in Russia. Also, out of the total 100% of the cost of the space station, Russia has spent only 10%, while it has more than 35% for work. He added that in accordance with all intergovernmental agreements, the Russian side has obligations and will fulfill them to support the ISS project until 2025.
Earlier, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia was tasked with ensuring the readiness of the first base module for the new Russian space station in 2025. According to him, it is already in the works. The head of the state corporation also published a video of the first module being created - it will be a scientific and energy module, which was previously supposed to be launched to the International Space Station in 2024.
On Sunday, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told TASS that the state of the ISS leaves much to be desired. They explained that the station needs a technical inspection to avoid any risks in the event of an emergency, which will result in a decision on its future fate. In turn, Borisov himself in an interview with Pavel Zarubin on the air of the program " Moscow. The Kremlin. Putin " said that Russia may withdraw from the ISS project in 2025.
