TSAMTO, April 20. The NORA B-52 M21 wheeled 155 mm self-propelled artillery system of the Serbian company Yugoimport-SDSR will take part in the tender of the US Army for the purchase of this type of guns.
According to Shephard, recently the Serbian manufacturer Yugoimport-SDSR in cooperation with the American company Global Ordnance completed tests for accuracy before being sent to the United States for evaluation with other applicants, which will take place at the Yuma range (Arizona).
The US Military has announced plans to purchase mobile long-range howitzers on a wheeled chassis in 2018. The "Request for Proposals" for the purpose of evaluating self-propelled howitzers for compliance with prospective requirements was issued on July 30, 2020.
At the moment, it is known that the Israeli ATMOS Iron Sabre self-propelled gun of Elbit Systems of America, the Swedish Archer of BAE Systems Bofors and the French Caesar of Nexter will also take part in the field tests.
The South Korean Hanwha with the K-9 Thunder, the Japanese Mitsubishi with the Type-19, the South African Denel with the G6 Reno and the Slovak ZTS-Dubnica with the Dana also showed interest in the competition at the end of 2020 (participation is not confirmed).
The NORA B-52 M21, prepared for testing in the United States, underwent a chassis upgrade (the original KamAZ chassis was replaced with a MAN with an armored cabin), and also received a fully automated loading mechanism that ensures compatibility with ammunition used by the US Military.
