YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, 20 Apr-RIA Novosti. The exercise to repel an air raid by the calculations of the S300V4 anti-aircraft missile system was held on the Kuril Islands, the press service of the Eastern Military District reports.
"In the Eastern Military District, as part of a control check with the calculations of the S-300V4 air defense systems stationed on the Kuril Islands, training was conducted on the detection, classification and destruction of air targets," the report says.
The air defense forces on duty on the S-300V4 were put on alert after receiving a signal about the violation of the air borders in the area of responsibility by the aircraft of the conditional enemy.
The personnel of the calculations found, identified, and escorted air targets that imitated the air raid of a simulated enemy. At the command, the combat crews made training (electronic) launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles at targets that entered the zone of destruction of the air defense complex.
The ministry noted that the coordinated actions of the military personnel and the timeliness of decision-making made it possible to "destroy" enemy aircraft.
The S-300V4 VVO missile system went on combat duty in the Kuril Islands on December 1, 2020.
