Washington. April 19. INTERFAX-Israeli military intelligence and senior Mossad officials believe that talks in Vienna between Iran and other world powers will lead to the return of the United States to the 2015 nuclear deal, Axios reported on Monday, citing knowledgeable sources.
"We would not be surprised if within a few weeks the United States and other world powers sign a deal with Iran," said one of the interlocutors of the publication, who was present at a meeting of the military-political cabinet of Israel.
It is noted that the Israeli government is very concerned about the return of the United States to the nuclear deal with Iran.
According to the newspaper's sources, no new political decisions were made at the Israeli Cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
Israel will continue its dialogue with the Joe Biden administration on negotiations with Iran.
In the next two weeks, Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabbat, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Aviv Kochavi, head of Israeli military intelligence Tamir Heyman and Mossad Director Yossi Cohen will visit Washington for talks with their counterparts on Iran, Axios sources said.
Negotiations between Iran and international mediators (France, Great Britain, Russia, China and Germany) are taking place in Vienna. A US delegation is also working in Vienna, but it does not have direct contacts with its Iranian counterparts.
The goal of the talks is to determine how the United States and Iran can return to the nuclear agreement, which they stopped implementing during the presidency of Donald Trump.
