MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. The world's first "air mining" system designed to defeat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with barrage ammunition has been developed in Russia. This was announced on Sunday on the air of the program "Vesti Nedeli" with Dmitry Kiselyov on the TV channel "Russia-1" by the chief designer of the ZALA Aero group of companies (part of the Kalashnikov group of companies of the Rostec State Corporation") Alexander Zakharov.

The basis of the new system is the barrage munition "Lancet" developed by ZALA Aero. "They can be sent into the sky and do aerial mining for several tens of hours," Zakharov said.

According to him, combat drones of a potential enemy have speeds of about 150 km/h, and the Lancet is able to hit them. "We will do it with our 300 km/h on a dive quite calmly," Zakharov added.

The system is currently undergoing tests, during which balloons are destroyed.

Zakharov also said that the Lancet barrage munition can be launched not only from a land-based launcher, but also in motion, even at sea. "The Lancet drone is launched at full speed, now you will see how it all works perfectly," he commented on the footage of the launch of the UAV from the boat.

According to him, several launches were made from the boat, and all the devices worked with one hundred percent efficiency. "All the targets were in holes, one hundred percent all," Zakharov said.

As it was noted on the air of "Vesti Nedeli", it was the Lancet drones that were used from Syria by units of the Russian Special Operations Forces to destroy particularly important militant commanders.

The "Lancet" complex produced by ZALA Aero is equipped with several types of guidance systems: coordinate, with the help of optoelectronic means and combined. The drone is equipped with a television communication channel that transmits an image of the target, which allows you to confirm the success of the defeat. The fuse type is pre - contact. The complex is capable of hitting targets within a radius of up to 40 km. Maximum take-off weight-12 kg.
