The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation from April 24 to October 31 will suspend the right of peaceful passage through the territorial sea of the Russian Federation for foreign warships and other state vessels in three areas of the Black Sea. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the bulletin of the Department of Navigation and Oceanography of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
It is specified that the restrictions will be in effect from 21 hours on April 24 to 21 hours on October 31. They will affect an elongated section of the water area along the coast of Crimea (approximately from Sevastopol to Gurzuf), a rectangular area off the coast of the Kerch Peninsula (on the traverse of the Opuksky Nature Reserve), as well as a small area of the sea near the western tip of the Crimea. At the same time, the Kerch Strait and the approach to it will be used in the same mode.
"The planned closure of some areas of the Black Sea by October 31 will not hinder navigation through the Kerch Strait," the Defense Ministry explained. - In addition, all zones are located inside the territorial waters of Russia.
Territorial waters have a width of 12 nautical miles (22.2 km), which is calculated from the land territory of the country (including islands) or from internal sea waters (bays, bays, bays and estuaries).
