The Russian army may be armed with a new light multiple launch rocket system. This weapon is developed by specialists of the NGO "SPLAV", which is part of the concern"Techmash".
As RIA Novosti notes with reference to the executive director of "NPK "Techmash" Alexander Kochkin, it is assumed that the MLRS will be installed on the car and use 80-mm unguided aircraft missiles.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that the mini-MLRS has already been presented and received the principled approval from the military.
"The military recommended an automobile base chassis, as well as the tasks that such a mini-MLRS should solve on the battlefield. Unguided aircraft missiles of the S-8 type were used as the basis for the creation of this type of weapon," Alexander Kochkin added.
With the help of these missiles, you can destroy the enemy's manpower, armored vehicles and protected objects.
It is also reported that the specialists of the concern are actively conducting research work that will determine the technical appearance of the MLRS, create and experimentally test its layout. The test results are expected to be available in 2022.
