On the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, the Resonance-N hypersonic target detection radar will be put on alert. This will happen no later than June of this year.
This was reported to TASS by the General Director of the research center "Resonance" Alexander Shramchenko. He added that the third radar station will appear on Novaya Zemlya in May-June. "Resonance-N" on Novaya Zemlya was introduced into the staff of the radio engineering troops of the 45th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Northern Fleet.
Two more radars will start operating in the Arctic by the end of 2021 - in Gremikha and Zapolyarny. General Director Alexander Shramchenko added that the radar station in Zapolyarnoye, which is 30 kilometers from the border with Norway, will allow for round-the-clock control of the airspace over the northern territories of Norway and Finland.
By the way, in the area of the settlements of Shoina and Indiga of the Nenets Autonomous District, two radars are already on combat duty. Another one is deployed on Novaya Zemlya in 2019, it will soon take up duty.
The Resonant-N radars operate in the meter range, they will detect air objects, including those made using stealth technology: aerodynamic - at a range of 600 kilometers, ballistic-up to 1.2 thousand kilometers at an altitude of up to one hundred kilometers.
