China intends to increase cooperation with Russia in space and will contribute to ensuring the security of outer space. This was announced on April 13 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian.
"In 2021, China will continue to promote cooperation with Russia in the field of space exploration in a wide range of areas. We also strive to join forces with all interested parties to maintain peace and security in outer space, " the diplomat said at a briefing.
He noted that Beijing supports the early holding of negotiations on arms control in outer space on the basis of a joint project with Russia.
Earlier, on April 7, Alexander Lutovinov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the IKI RAS, called the Chinese space program very ambitious. The expert noted the line of future launches of Chinese observatories for space exploration in X-rays and gamma rays.
In turn, Mikhail Sachkov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, head of the Department of Experimental Astronomy at INASAN, said that Russia does not fully use its potential for cooperation with China in space exploration.
Earlier, on March 9, Russia signed two agreements with China on cooperation in the field of lunar exploration. The signing took place in St. Petersburg as part of the 24th meeting of the heads of government of Russia and China.
Within the framework of the project, Russia and China will jointly develop a roadmap for the creation of a station on the Moon, and will cooperate in the planning, design, and operation of the object, including its presentation to the world community.
