As reported in the design bureau, ships of this type can be used for protection, as well as as a rescue or research vessel

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. The Central Design Bureau (CCB) "Rubin" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) has developed the first Russian submerged patrol ship designed for foreign customers. This was reported to TASS on Monday in the press service of the Central Bank of Russia.

"Rubin is the first modification of a submerged patrol ship that combines the advantages of a submarine and a surface patrol ship," the company said. The project was named "Sentinel", it will be launched on the world market under the designation BOSS (Border and Offshore Submersible Sentry), the Central Bank noted.

"The cost of patrol ships on the world market is relatively low, which makes them acceptable for countries with a small budget. Exploitation pays off by preventing poaching and other economic offenses. Ships of this type are multifunctional, can be used for protection, as well as as a rescue or research vessel," the press service informed.

As noted at the enterprise, when choosing the equipment of the ship "Rubin" as much as possible was guided by the existing samples that are mass-produced and commercially justified, including systems for surface ships and aircraft.

The underwater position gives the ship two advantages at once: the ability to conduct covert surveillance of intruders and to escape from adverse weather conditions without interrupting the patrol. "The submerged ship can be used as a classic submarine - for conducting reconnaissance and other tasks. The ability to study the shelf of a diving patrol ship will be higher than that of a similar surface ship. It can also serve as an inexpensive training tool to prepare crews and infrastructure for the purchase of classic submarines in the future, " the press service added.

TSKB "Rubin" is one of the world leaders in the creation of nuclear and non-nuclear submarines and the largest marine engineering design bureau in Russia.
