BEIJING, April 9. /TASS/. China on Friday successfully launched the third satellite of the Shiyan-6 series to explore near-Earth space and test space equipment. This was reported by China Central Television.
According to him, the launch took place at 07:01 (02:01 Moscow time) from the Taiyuan cosmodrome (Shanxi Province, Northern China) using a Long March-4B launch vehicle (CZ-4B, "Changzheng-4B").
The current launch was the 365th for the Changzheng series of launch vehicles.
The first satellite of the Shiyan-6 series was launched in November 2018, and the second in July 2020.
China is actively developing its national space program, developing meteorological, telecommunications and navigation satellites, as well as technologies for exploring the moon. Chinese scientists are also implementing a project to study asteroids and Mars, which they intend to begin intensive study of the surface in the near future.
According to the official statement of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), this year China plans to carry out at least 40 launches and set a new national record.
