The only barracks in the Far East, decorated in the loft style, was put into operation after reconstruction in a historic building built almost 120 years ago in Ussuriysk in Primorye, the press service of the Military Construction Complex of the Russian Defense Ministry told TASS on Friday.
"Military builders have completed the reconstruction of the historic barracks of 1902. The building was built in the style of brick eclecticism, which is characterized by the use of red brick as the main building material, so the interior decoration of the premises is made in the loft style. During the reconstruction, strengthening and waterproofing of the foundations were carried out, vaulted ceilings were restored, new partitions, floors, roof, attic, fences, ventilation shafts were installed, window and door blocks were replaced, modern engineering networks were laid," the press service reported.
In the ancient brickwork, experts found about a hundred cracks, reaching four meters. For its rehabilitation, military builders used the injection method. This technology allows you to increase the strength of the walls by about half, as well as quickly and efficiently make repairs and waterproofing, without removing damaged areas of masonry.
Military builders have preserved the historical appearance of the building and created a modern, comfortable living environment, the press service said. The barracks is designed for 200 soldiers. They are provided with comfortable sleeping arrangements, on the floors there are two sanitary blocks with showers, household service rooms. There are also offices, a room for psychological relief, and a sports hall.
In total, the reconstruction of four barracks, which are objects of cultural heritage, has been completed on the territory of the military camp, said the representative of the Military Construction Complex Sergey Timirov, who was quoted in the press service. Also in high readiness are two more barracks and a canteen designed for 1,200 seats, one of the largest public catering facilities in the district. The barracks are equipped with automatic control and regulation devices for heating and ventilation systems.
Ussuriysk is included in the list of historical settlements of Russia, it was founded in August 1866. There are 157 objects of cultural heritage, one of them - created in 1902, "The Ensemble of the development of the territory of the military department". The historical architectural ensemble is made in the style of brick eclecticism or brick style, which is characterized by the use of red brick as the main building material. Rectangular, one-or two-or less often three-story volume, the sides of which were flanked by projecting risalites with rectangular gables.
