The US military and the coalition countries were not injured when the airport in the Afghan province of Kandahar was shelled on Wednesday, April 7. This was announced at a briefing by Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby. A recording of the speech is posted on the website of the Defense Department.
"We condemn today's attack on the Kandahar airport, where several hundred US and coalition military personnel are stationed. As a result of the attack, no one was injured, " he said.
Kirby stressed that the latest attacks, organized by the radical movement "Taliban" (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation), may affect the negotiations on the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
Earlier on Wednesday, at least six rockets were fired at the airport in Kandahar.
In addition, on Wednesday, two people were killed and six were injured in an explosion in the eastern city of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
