MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. A Russian MiG-31 fighter jet escorted a Norwegian Air Force Falcon-20 radio reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft over the Barents Sea. This was reported on Wednesday in the National Center for Defense Management of the Russian Federation.
"On April 7, 2021, Russian means of controlling the airspace over the territory of Norway detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To identify the air target and prevent violations of the state border of the Russian Federation, a MiG-31 fighter from the Northern Fleet air defense forces on duty was lifted into the air. The crew of the Russian fighter identified the air target as a Norwegian Air Force Falcon-20 radio-technical reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft and escorted it over the Barents Sea, " the report said.
After the turn of a foreign military aircraft from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield.
The National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation stressed that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace. "Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation are not allowed," the message reads.
