In Syria, a new technology for aiming tactical strike drones "Pacer" at terrorist targets was tested with the help of an upgraded wearable intelligence, control and communications complex (KRUS) "Strelet-M". As [...] a source in the Russian military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti, the coordinates of the targets were transmitted from the ground using a tablet.
"The option of transmitting the exact coordinates of the targets directly to the ground control point of the attack UAVs with automatic display of the target on the electronic map of the area of the drone operator was also implemented," he said.
When exactly the tests took place, the agency interlocutor did not specify, but noted that the "Pacer" drone was able to accurately hit the targets, and information about this in real time was sent to higher authorities.
The source noted that it is not yet possible to control the drone through the system equipped with a tablet, and this remains the task of the operator. "However, in the future, when a sufficient level of automation of domestic UAVs is achieved, it is possible that the Sagittarius cruise missile or its versions will allow ground forces to provide target designation for attack drones directly, "he said.
Earlier it became known that the development work for the creation of an intercontinental ballistic missile "Cedar", will begin in Russia in 2023-2024, and approximately in 2030, "Cedar" should replace the existing mobile and stationary missiles "Yars".
