TSAMTO, March 30. The US Department of Defense announced the conclusion of a contract with Lockheed Martin Corporation, which provides for the supply of high-precision guided missile ammunition GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) for the US Navy.
The contract value is estimated at $ 2.765 billion. The agreement provides for the delivery to the US Army of an unnamed number of containers with GMLRS guided missile systems with an alternative warhead, a unitary warhead, as well as training radars with a reduced range, ensuring cybersecurity and servicing the delivered ammunition. The location of the work and the quantity of ammunition ordered will be determined within the framework of individual orders. All deliveries must be completed by October 31, 2024.
The GMLRS is a long-range guided high-precision missile designed to engage key enemy targets located at a distance of 70 km or more in field and urban conditions at any time of the day and in difficult weather conditions.
The development of GMLRS was carried out as part of an international program with the participation of the United States, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. GMLRS ' foreign customers currently include the armed Forces of Japan, Bahrain, Finland, Israel, Jordan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Lockheed Martin has produced more than 30,000 GMLRS. The reliability factor of using GMLRS in a combat situation is 98 percent.
Placed in the launch containers, the GMLRS RS can be used with standard MLRS M270 MLRS and HIMARS installations. Each container contains six GMLRS PCs.
