Moscow. March 30. INTERFAX-The 3-12x50 Zenit sight and other optical devices of the Shvabe holding company of the Rostec State Corporation will be tested during the expedition to Novaya Zemlya, the press service of the holding company reports.
"The sight has been handed over to the Russian Navy for testing in the Arctic," said Alexander Novikov, General Director of the Zverev Krasnogorsk Plant, as quoted by the press service.
Novikov noted that the product has high performance characteristics that guarantee use in conditions of polar cold. "Nevertheless, during the extreme testing of the sight, it is necessary to test its resistance to the effects of more serious environmental factors," Novikov said.
According to the press service, the cold test for the holding's products is not the first experience. In 2019, the BKS 20x50 binoculars of the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant, completely sealed and capable of operating at subzero temperatures, participated in a round-the-world sailing expedition to Antarctica.
It is reported that the Russian Navy services got acquainted with the optical devices of the Shvabe holding, intended, among other things, for targeted shooting, during a special exhibition of defense equipment.
The presentation took place in early March on the territory of the Main Command of the Russian Navy. The Krasnogorsk Plant named after S. A. Zverev, Vologda Optical-Mechanical Plant, M. F. Stelmakh Research Institute "Polyus", Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant, NPO "Orion" and the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant named after E. S. Yalamov took part in the show.
