Tokyo. March 30. INTERFAX-A Japanese fighter jet was alerted to escort two medium-range Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the Russian Navy flying over the Sea of Japan near the country's maritime border, the Joint Headquarters of the Japan Self-Defense Forces said.
According to him, the flight of Russian military aircraft was recorded on Monday. According to their route, published by the Japanese military, the Russian IL-38 flew along the west coast of Japan from south to north. In total, they flew about 400 km along the coast of Honshu Island.
On Monday, a pair of long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the Russian Navy Tu-142 flew near Alaska, the Joint Aerospace Defense Command of North America (NORAD) said.
"NORAD has positively identified and tracked two Russian Tu-142 anti-submarine patrol aircraft that entered the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)," the report said.
