Russian President Vladimir Putin has successfully tested his new "deadly" Zircon hypersonic missiles, which are capable of reaching targets in the United States in a matter of minutes. This is how the British tabloid Daily Express reacted to the tests that took place in the Arctic.
In total, four launches of "Zircons" were made from the frigate "Admiral Gorshkov", and each missile successfully hit the target, "hitting the bull's-eye", the newspaper writes.
As noted by the Daily Express, such missiles, capable of reaching speeds above Mach 5 and having high maneuverability, which makes it difficult to intercept them, can significantly change the course of future military conflicts in the event of their occurrence. At the same time, Russia, as well as China, surpass their potential Western rivals, in particular the United States, in the development of new-generation missiles, the article says.
The tests of "Zircons" in the Arctic became known on March 25. It was noted that the state tests of these missiles will begin approximately in May-June.
Earlier it was reported that this year the hypersonic missile "Zircon" is planned to be used from the nuclear submarine (submarine) K-560 " Severodvinsk "project 885"Ash".
In December 2020, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video on YouTube with the launch of a hypersonic missile "Zircon", carried out from the frigate" Admiral Gorshkov " project 22350. The corresponding test launch was conducted from the White Sea at the target at the Chizha test site in the Arkhangelsk region. The missile reached a speed of Mach 8 and hit a coastal target at a distance of 350 kilometers.
