Work on the creation of the first Russian humanoid robot that will go into outer space has begun at the head institute of Roscosmos TsNIIMash and the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia. This was reported on Saturday, March 27, by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of Roscosmos.
The state corporation said that the development of the robot will be carried out within the framework of the target work of "Teledroid", and the creation of the robotic system will be directly handled by the NGO "Android Technology".
The robot will look like a human torso without legs and will copy the movements of the operator, who in a special suit will be on the ISS or in the Mission Control Center. However, it is noted that he will be able to perform some typical operations himself.
The NGO "Android Technology" created the robot "Fedor", which went to the ISS on August 22, 2019 on the Soyuz-2.1 a rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The ship with the robot on board departed from the International Space Station on the evening of September 6. He returned to Earth on September 7.
