TSAMTO, March 22. Russia is preparing to adopt the self-propelled gun "Magnolia", reports"RIA Novosti". These guns will be handed over to Arctic units performing tasks in extreme climatic conditions.
According to the agency, the new self-propelled gun for units based in the Far North became known in 2017. Then the Defense Ministry said that the 120-mm "Magnolia" will be put on the chassis of an armored two-link tracked transporter.
The agency recalls that the technical characteristics of the " Magnolia "were partially disclosed at the" Army-2019 " forum. The tractor is a 27-ton tracked armored all-terrain vehicle DT-10PM "Vityaz" with a load capacity of more than ten tons with an 800-horsepower diesel engine. Speed – up to 45 km / h, speed of overcoming water obstacles-up to 6 km / h. Mileage without refueling – about 700 km. The crew is four people, the combat compartment is located in the aft section.
According to the agency, the combined semi-automatic rifled gun combines the functions of a howitzer and a mortar. It has a wide range of ammunition, including the use of shells from the self-propelled gun "Nona". You can also use guided "Kitolov-2", designed to destroy lightly armored vehicles and engineering structures. Thanks to the semi-active laser homing system, the probability of accurately hitting a stationary target without aiming is close to one.
Ammunition – 80 rounds. The gun reaches the target with high-explosive fragmentation ammunition at a range of more than eight kilometers, controlled – up to ten. Rate of fire – ten rounds per minute.
The main tasks of the "Magnolia" are the destruction of air defense and electronic warfare facilities, rocket launchers, armored vehicles, fortifications, amphibious vehicles and enemy personnel.
