We are talking about preventing collisions between NASA spacecraft and satellites of the Starlink orbital network
TASS, March 19. The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has signed an agreement with the US company SpaceX to expand cooperation to prevent spacecraft collisions.
"This agreement authorizes a deeper level of coordination, cooperation, and information sharing, and defines the terms, responsibilities, and actions to ensure flight safety," NASA said in a statement posted Thursday on its website. It is specified that the main task of the agreement is to prevent approaches or collisions of NASA spacecraft and satellites of the Starlink orbital network.
The Starlink network is designed to provide Internet access by deploying a large number of small spacecraft weighing up to 500 kg in orbit. According to SpaceX, the launch of a total of 11 thousand satellites and their commissioning will cost $10 billion. In May 2019, the first 60 microsatellites were launched into space.
