The Japanese were excited by the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the inadmissibility of the deployment of American missiles
Russia has warned that the deployment of US missiles in Japan could threaten security in the region. In response, Japanese users were divided in their opinion. Some said that it is necessary to send "not simple missiles" in the direction of Russia, while others noted that it is time for Japan to act independently, and not rely on the help of the United States.
The reaction to the words of the official representative of the Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova about the possible deployment of American missiles on the territory of Japan from the readers of the Japanese media was bright. Some suggested placing the missiles now and "directing them towards Russia," while others warned against such plans.
"We need to deploy more than simple missiles. Aim 500 nuclear missiles at Russia! And if you can, hit it! Turn Russia into a sea of fire!" - RIA "Novosti" quotes the words of a Japanese user under the nickname ywc. He wrote his statement in response to Zakharova's statement posted in the Japanese media.
Another commentator told him that "such bold responses to Russia are inappropriate", because Japan is currently losing to it. "Ultimately, we need nuclear weapons!" he added, stressing that it is time for Tokyo to stop relying on American assistance. In his opinion, the country's authorities should rely only on their own strength.
"Are you sure that the deployment of these American missiles will be so easy for us? Have you forgotten what kind of public resistance can develop on the ground, including from sufficiently strong local self-government bodies?" - asked the user kon.
Two days earlier, Maria Zakharova warned that the deployment of US missiles in the Asia-Pacific region could lead to a new round of the arms race. The consequences of this process, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed, are unpredictable.
At the briefing, Zakharova noted that the Russian side drew attention to Japanese media reports that " Tokyo and Washington may soon hold a discussion on the prospects for deploying American missiles in Japan."
"In this regard, I would like to emphasize once again that the deployment of American ground-based medium-and shorter-range missiles in various regions of the world, including in the Asia-Pacific region, in any equipment would have an extremely destabilizing effect from the point of view of international and regional security. This would provoke a new round of the arms race with unpredictable consequences, "RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
Zakharova added that such a development does not strengthen the security of either the United States or its allies, and the appearance of additional missile threats to Russia will entail a response from Moscow.
"We once again call on all interested parties to jointly search for ways to find a political and diplomatic solution to the situation that has developed after the collapse of the INF Treaty [the Treaty on intermediate - range and shorter-range missiles] by Washington," she said.
At the same time, the official representative of the Foreign Ministry recalled that Russia "is open to equal and constructive work to restore trust, strengthen international security and strategic stability in the world after the INF Treaty."
This position of the Russian side regarding the deployment of American missiles on the territory of Japan was published by many Japanese media. Including the most widely circulated Japanese newspaper, the Yomiuri Shimbun. In its article, the publication writes that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a press conference that " if the United States goes to the deployment of medium-range missiles on the territory of Japan, these actions will undoubtedly receive our adequate response."
"The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that the appearance of such missiles in Japan will be perceived by Russia as the emergence of a serious new threat to its interests. Such actions of the United States can become one of the factors of a serious violation of global and regional stability, " the article says and notes that Russia's desire to restrain the United States is thus manifested.
