The shooting of the Grad MLRS in the harsh conditions of the Arctic was shown on video.
The Zvezda TV channel published a report from the exercises at the Shary training ground in the Murmansk region. They involved the calculations of the MLRS "Grad". Before conducting the shooting, a shot was fired from a special wind gun. Taking into account the flight of the bullet under the influence of the wind, the gunners were able to calculate the trajectory more accurately. It was also important to know the temperature of the air and the shells. Arctic frosts can affect the accuracy of shooting.
As a result, the Grads successfully coped with the task-they destroyed targets at a distance of five kilometers. The salvo covered an area of almost 16 hectares.
The Grad 122 mm multiple rocket launcher systems were adopted in 1963. They are designed to destroy open and hidden manpower, unarmored equipment, armored personnel carriers, artillery and mortar batteries, and command posts.
One salvo includes 40 shells. The maximum target range is up to 40 kilometers.
