MOSCOW, 3 Mar-RIA Novosti. Two B-1B bombers of the US Air Force were moving on Wednesday over the Baltic Sea to the Russian border, they were escorted by a Russian Su-27, according to the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation.
"On the third of March, 2021, two air targets were detected approaching the state border of the Russian Federation by the Russian air space control systems over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. To identify air targets and prevent violations of the state border of the Russian Federation, a Su-27 fighter from the air defense forces of the Western Military District on duty was lifted into the air, " the report says.
It is noted that the crew of the SU-27 identified air targets as B-1B strategic bombers of the US Air Force and escorted them over the Baltic Sea. Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation are not allowed.
"After the turn of foreign military aircraft from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield," the report adds.
It is emphasized that the flight was carried out according to international rules for the use of airspace.
