The new contract provides for maintenance, operational repairs and completion of target missiles

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group of Companies (GC) (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will supply the Russian Defense Ministry with 20 Armavir high-altitude target missiles by the end of 2022. This was reported to journalists on Monday in the press service of "Kalashnikov".

"The Molniya Research and Production Association (NPO) (part of Kalashnikov) and the Russian Defense Ministry have signed a contract for the supply of 20 Armavir high-altitude target missiles for air defense. According to the contract, Molniya will become the exclusive supplier of target missiles for the period until the end of 2022, "Kalashnikov said.

As noted in the Civil Code, the new contract provides for maintenance, operational repair and completion of target missiles by specialists of "Lightning" in military units and at training grounds, as well as consultations with representatives of the military department.

"Last year, Molniya signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense for a period of two years for the maintenance of target missiles and target complexes, becoming the only company that serves all the test range equipment of the country's air defense. In addition, the NGO continues servicing the Strizh and Armavir target missiles delivered to the troops under previously concluded contracts, "Kalashnikov reported. They added that Molniya continues to work on the creation and improvement of target missiles and conducts aerospace development.

Target missiles RM-75VU1 "Armavir" and its low-altitude modification RM-75MVU1 are designed to provide combat training activities for anti-aircraft missile units and conduct weapons tests. "Armavir" is based on the anti-aircraft guided missile 5YA23 of the S-75 "Dvina"complex. The production of target missiles is implemented through a deep modernization of the on-board equipment of anti-aircraft guided missiles that were previously withdrawn from service.
